Two students of the Lagos State University have been hospitalized after they were hit by stray bullets on Monday evening, May 20.

The students were hit by the bullets outside the school campus at a popular students’ residential area called PPL.

According to unconfirmed reports, the students went to get food before they were hit by the stray bullets.

An X user who shared photos of the injured students wrote: “Two students have been shot at PPL, Ojo, Lagos. Please, students of LASU, stay indoors and don’t go out.”

He added that the victims have been “rushed to Igando General Hospital”.

Commenting on the tweet, Kappo Olawale, the Senior Special Adviser on Students’ Union Affairs to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said he had been in touch with the university’s Student Union President, who said the victims are in stable condition.

“I have kept in touch with the President of the Student Union. Information passed just now is that the students have been stabilised. The Dean of Students was also on the ground to ensure they were properly attended to. Thanks to God!
” he tweeted.

However, one X user claimed one of the victims has died.

In a video circulating online, one of the victims - a female - is seen lying on a bed with her shirt soaked in blood.
