Niger Governor Confirms Killing Of Captain, Soldiers By Bandits

The governor, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the incident as “atrocious, provocative and unacceptable.”

 
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has confirmed the killing of a captain and soldiers by bandits.
 
The Niger State governor made the confirmation yesterday as he sympathised with the Nigerian Army “over the killing of a captain and five soldiers in an ambush by bandits.”
 
The governor, in a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the incident as “atrocious, provocative and unacceptable.”
 
He expressed sympathy with the security agencies who are daily making sacrifices to ensure the safety of citizens, with most of them paying the supreme price.
 
The governor assured the Nigerian Army and every other conventional and non-conventional security agencies that his administration will not rest on its oars in providing all the needed support towards halting the nefarious activities of bandits.
 
He also used the opportunity to commiserate with the families of the slain officer and men as well as a vigilante, promising that their death would not be in vain.
 
At the weekend, bandits ambushed and killed some security personnel comprising a captain, soldiers, and a vigilante on their way to respond to a distress call around Bassa and Alawa communities in Shiroro local government area of Niger State.
