Adetayo, a former Department of State Security staff member, disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday.

A National Security and Intelligence Expert, Seyi Adetayo has expressed shock over the escape of Binance Executive Nadeem Anjarwalla from custody.

He said the incident is an embarrassment to the country.

Adetayo, a former Department of State Security staff member, disclosed this during an interview on Channels Television on Tuesday.

Recall that the office of the National Security Adviser confirmed that Anjarwalla escaped from custody in Nigeria.

The Nigerian government said it had launched a manhunt for the suspect.

However, Adetayo said a contract organization or foreign government intelligence sponsored the escape.

He noted that the Nigerian security agents on duty when the escape was carried out were either bribed with money or through religion.

“A contract organization or foreign government intelligence asset operated the extraction.

“This is a well-planned extraction operation; for a company like Binance, it is the least they can sponsor. This is a big embarrassment to us as a nation”, he said.

Anjarwalla escaped lawful custody while under a 14-day remand order by a court over tax evasion and other offences. He was scheduled to appear before it again on April 4, 2024.

Recall that the Nigerian government and Binance had been at loggerheads over the latter’s alleged illegal financial activities in Nigeria.
