Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has expressed condolences to the management, staff, and students of the Federal University, Gashua, following the tragic fire incident that resulted in the loss of a student's life.

Buni, in a statement signed by his media aide, Mamman Mohammed, described the incident as sad, most unfortunate, and a great loss to the university and the students.

He condoled with the family and the university community over the death of the young and promising student.

“It is very sad we lost this young and promising lady, we pray to Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant the family and the university the fortitude to bear the loss”,
he prayed.

The governor, however, called on the university and all other institutions in the state to take proactive measures against possible fire outbreaks.

“It is becoming one fire too many, because not too long ago, there was a fire disaster at the State University and now at the Federal University Gashua, there is the need to take serious measures against future occurrences”,
Gov. Buni said.

The governor directed the State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials to the affected students for their immediate use.

Similarly, in a statement, former Senate president, Senator Ahmad Lawan, with a heavy heart, expressed his deepest condolences over the devastating fire outbreak.

“This incident is a heart-wrenching loss for the university host community, the university community and the family of the deceased”,
said.

While sympathising with the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, the management and the students, and all those affected by the tragedy, Senator Lawan urged the university to investigate the cause of this incident and take necessary steps to prevent future occurrences.
