The police officers including one identified as Inspector Olubunmi Abe were deployed on Thursday by their senior officers to wipe out the suspected criminals inside the forest but the policemen did not return.

Many concerned residents of Delta State are preparing to organize a protest in response to the reported killing of 19 policemen by suspected herders within a sinister forest in Ughelli town.

SaharaReporters learnt that the police officers including one identified as Inspector Olubunmi Abe were deployed on Thursday by their senior officers to wipe out the suspected criminals inside the forest but the policemen did not return.

According to the Delta State Correspondent of the Independent Television and Radio, the police have found just six (6) decomposing corpses out of nineteen (19) thus far, going by the valiant efforts of the jurisdiction's local vigilantes.

“How can the police authorities dispatch police officers to an evil forest at night dominated by monsters? It is ridiculous. This is tantamount to sending the police officers on a suicide mission,” one of the concerned residents said.

Another source continued: “I am still pained that Detective Abe who served in Benin was a victim of the barbaric act of the monstrous apparitions.

“The police authorities have questions to answer. Nineteen policemen are allegedly missing and the police authorities decided to maintained grave silence to prevent the information from entering public domain.

“The Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja expeditiously issued a press release reaffirming the prosecution of miss Chioma in the Erisco Tomato matter and never deemed it fit to issue a statement in condemnation of the killing of some policemen who died while defending the nation with integrity.

“It is obvious that the police authorities don't have regard for junior officers who are always on the field doing the work while the bosses at the top sit down with bottles in the office.

“I want to use this medium to call on the police authorities to declare a day of mourning for the fallen heroes and set machinery in motion for the stupendous empowerment of the officers' wives and scholarships to university level for the children."
