BREAKING: Terrorists Abduct Chinese Engineer, Kill Civil Defence Officer In Kogi

On Thursday morning, a group of alleged terrorists abducted a Chinese national employed as a road engineer and fatally wounded a member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in the Obangede community of Kogi State, located in North Central Nigeria.

Obangede is in the Okehi Local Government Area of the state.

A source from the community disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Thursday, saying that the NSCDC officer who was killed was one of the security agents attached to the abducted Chinese engineer.

The names of the abducted person and the deceased could not be ascertained by SaharaReporters at the time of filing this report.

When SaharaReporters contacted the state police spokesman, William Ovye Aya to confirm and get an update on the issue, he said he “will check, get back later".

In a similar incident, about 14 passengers of God Is Good (GIG) Motors and ABC Transport were abducted in Kogi on their way to Abuja on February 3 in Inyele Eteke, Olamaboro LGA.

The passengers, who were said to have been travelling from the south-east regained their freedom a few days later.

The gunmen reportedly hijacked the vehicles before abducting the occupants.

The kidnappers were said to have demanded a ransom of N15 million from each of the passengers to secure their release.
