Tension In Delta As Market Women, Youths Protest Relocation Of University From Community

The protesters, who bore different placards with inscriptions, demanded that the faculty be returned to the institution.

Ozoro community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State is currently experiencing heightened tension as hundreds of women and youths have blocked the Ozoro/Kwale/Asaba Expressway.

Daily Post reports that they are protesting the relocation of the Faculty of Business Administration, Delta State University of Science and Technology, to Orerokpe community, the local government of the current Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.

They said the relocation of the faculty from the institution will greatly affect the economic life of the town.

The protesters, who bore different placards with inscriptions, demanded that the faculty be returned to the institution.

As of the time of filing this report, the youths were seen at the Owhelogbo junction, just as the women were dancing round the community.

Travellers going to Asaba and Onitsha in Anambra State have been forced to take alternative routes.

The protesters called on Governor Oborevwori, to as a matter of urgency, relocate the faculty back to the university’s main campus.
