The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Aliyu and Umar, after they pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.
Two drivers, Ibrahim Aliyu and Ibrahim Umar have been sentenced to six months imprisonment each, by an Area Court in Jos, on Tuesday, for stealing 180 litres of diesel and the cash sum of N250,000.
The judge, Shawomi Bokkos, sentenced Aliyu and Umar, after they pleaded guilty to the offence and begged the court for leniency.
Bokkos also gave the convicts an option of N30,000 fine each.
The convicts were equally ordered to pay a compensation of N50,000 each or serve six months in default.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Labaran Ahmed, had informed the court that the case was reported at the Laranto Police Station, Jos, on Jan. 10, by Mr Aminu Mohammed.
Ahmed said the truck drivers conspired and stole 180 litres of diesel from Mohammed, the complainant’s trucks, worth N190,800 and the cash sum of N250,000.
The prosecutor further told the court that during a police investigation, the accused persons confessed to committing the offence.
The offence, he said, contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
