The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has dislodged suspected miscreants and beggars constituting nuisance along Oshodi and Ikeja pedestrian bridge.
The state Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on his X handle on Monday.
Wahab stated that the officials evacuated miscreants squatting inside pedestrian bridges to make the facilities safe for pedestrians.
He wrote, “The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, led by Corps Marshal, Major Olatunbosun Olaniyi Cole, Rtd, earlier today conducted an enforcement operation to dislodge touts and miscreants constituting nuisance on the Oshodi and Ikeja along pedestrian bridges.
“While we encourage Lagosians to desist from crossing the highways and use the pedestrian bridges, this enforcement will be conducted and sustained across the state and any person found constituting a threat to the safety of pedestrians on highway will be apprehended and prosecuted by the courts to serve as deterrents to others.”
The state government had also urged residents to make use of pedestrian bridges and ordered the prosecution of pedestrians crossing the highways.
