Reports indicate that armed bandits attacked the Ikobi community in Apa Local Government Area of Benue State, resulting in the unfortunate death of at least four individuals and causing injuries to others.
An eyewitness in the area, Mr Ameh Amodu, who disclosed this to Daily Post on Thursday, said the incident happened in the night.
According to him, the invaders came into the community but were chased away by the soldiers and they decided to enter silently through the outskirt, killing four persons and injuring others.
“The area is surrounded by hills, and that was how they took the people unawares. Armed herdsmen are the ones who killed them.
“They patrol with their cows and drop their warriors who are attacking the people unexpectedly. Last year, they attacked the community and that is what we are seeing again,” he said.
Barrister Eche Akpoko, the chairman of Apa Development Association, an umbrella body of the Apa people, confirmed that four bodies have been recovered.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Catherine Anene said she has no information about the incident.
