This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has stated that the agency will take legal action against any skit or filmmaker found wearing the agency's uniform or using associated colors, kits, or accessories without government permission.

This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists on Thursday by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq.

Taofiq quoted the Agency’s General Manager, Bakare Oki, as saying that the decision was made after witnessing a social media video of two actors wearing phony LASTMA uniforms being revived by evil means after impaling a white Sienna car on the road.

Taofiq noted that film or skit makers who portray LASTMA officers without obtaining the necessary permission should stop immediately or risk facing the full force of the law.

In August 2023, The PUNCH reported that LASTMA warned film and skit makers against unauthorised use of its uniforms in movies and comedy skits.

The statement partly reads, “The Management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has concluded all necessary arrangements to prosecute any skits or filmmakers caught using the Agency’s uniform or its affiliated colour, kits and accouterments without any authorisation from the Government.

“Mr. Bakare-Oki made this known today after seeing two (2) actors with fake LASTMA uniforms in a viral video on social media where one of them was being revived through a diabolical means after impounding a white ‘Sienna’ space bus on the road.

“We implore the National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners and other affiliated bodies to warn their members as anyone caught using LASTMA Uniform without an approved permit would be prosecuted in accordance with ‘Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.”
