Under The Law, A Minor Can Commit An Offence. It Is Only A Child Under 12 That Cannot Be Liable - Police Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi

Adejobi disclosed this while reacting to tweets shared by a Nigerian man expressing his displeasure at some police officers who arrested a 12-year-old girl.

 
The spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi has clarified that a minor cannot be charged.
 
According to him, this is because under the law, a minor can commit an offence and can be held liable. 
 
Adejobi disclosed this while reacting to tweets shared by a Nigerian man expressing his displeasure at some police officers who arrested a 12-year-old girl for walking on her street late in the night and held her for two days without any contact with her family members.
 
Reacting to the post, Adejobi called for an investigation into the matter but added that a minor can be held liable for an offence. He added that it is only a child under 12 that cannot be arrested for a crime.
