A resident said it took the intervention of neighbours and men of the fire service to put out the fire, which he added almost extended to the next apartment.
Two semi-detached apartments in the Naharati community in Abaji Area Council of Abuja have been razed by fire.
A resident, identified simply as Yakubu, who spoke to the Daily Trust on Monday, February 12, 2024, said the incident happened on Saturday around 1pm when a thick smoke billowed from the apartments.
He said the occupants of the apartments were not at home when the fire broke out, even as he noted that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.
He said it took the intervention of neighbours and men of the fire service to put out the fire, which he added almost extended to the next apartment.
It was later gathered that the fire might have been caused by one of the victims’ children who lighted a match stick and threw it on top of a cushion inside their parlour.
