The oil mogul was reported to have killed himself by committing suicide after he allegedly killed his wife on Friday, in Alagbaka area of Akure the State capital.
The Ondo State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a well-known oil and gas merchant and socialite, Sesan Adelabu, and his wife, Bolu.
The oil mogul was reported to have killed himself by committing suicide after he allegedly killed his wife on Friday, in Alagbaka area of Akure the State capital.
Trouble was said to have started when Adelabu, popularly known as “Shessy Emirate” within the social circle, allegedly caught his wife having an affair with another man.
Angered by the development, he allegedly inflicted a series of machete cuts on his wife which led to her death. Consequently, he drank insecticide known as Sniper and died equally.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the state Police Commissioner, Abayomi Oladipo, has ordered the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, to takeover investigation of the incident.
The commissioner who spoke through the Command's spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said the incident happened on Friday evening and the bodies of the deceased couple had been deposited at a mortuary.
According to a statement on Saturday, Oladipo said, “On the 9th of February, 2024, a distress call was received by the police of A’ Division Akure by men of the Special Protection Unit.
“The officer attached to the deceased in his house in the Alagbaka area of Akure received a call from the deceased child around 6 p.m. asking after his father.
“When he was not picking up his calls, the policeman, while trying to inform his principal, discovered him face down and lifeless in the toilet, while his wife’s body was found on the bed with multiple cuts suspected to be machete cuts on her head and face.
“An empty container of snipers was also found at the scene,” she said.
