Justice Aprioku sighted Order 4, Rule 4c of Administration of Criminal Justice, which gives him the power to renew and extend orders where application is made ex parte.

The Nigerian Police and other security agencies have been ordered not to arrest the Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor, Edison Ehie.

This is as a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt extended its previous interim order.

The trial Judge, Justice Sika Aprioku, extended the order following a complaint by Counsel to Ehie, Demain Okoro, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, who informed the court that despite the interim order served on the Police, they went ahead to declare the applicant wanted.

Justice Aprioku sighted Order 4, Rule 4c of Administration of Criminal Justice, which gives him the power to renew and extend orders where application is made ex parte.

Justice Aprioku, who also ruled on the application for extension of time by the respondent’s counsel, Celestine Dickson, gave three days extension for the counsel to respond to the process while the applicant was given two days to reply.

The judge thereafter adjourned till the 15th of February, 2024, for the commencement of hearing of the substantive suit.
