Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Calabar, Izilein also said that Jose Peseiro’s side now understand themselves better.

Godwin Izilein, a former Super Falcons coach, has voiced criticism of Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi in anticipation of Nigeria's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash with Angola on Friday.

Izilein said the Fulham player loses possession easily, adding that he goes to sleep when he is without the ball.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Calabar, Izilein also said that Jose Peseiro’s side now understand themselves better.

“They understand themselves and play normal game. They attack and defend for themselves,”
he said.

“This was not the case before; they cover for themselves. The players have come to realise that your mistake is mine and mine is yours.”

He added, “The only snag is that Alex Iwobi has really not been fully into this tournament. He loses possession easily and does not defend and cover up for his colleagues.

“Iwobi only plays when he has the ball and goes to sleep when he is not.

“I am convinced and confident that Nigeria will deal with Angola on Friday,”
he stated.
