The fire, which started around 9pm on Tuesday night, engulfed the furniture section of the state capital’s largest market.
A trader who went to his shop at Gusau Central Market in Zamfara State, to retrieve his properties during a fire outbreak, has been burnt to death.
This was confirmed by the Zamfara State Fire Service on Wednesday, January 31.
A devastating fire outbreak razed the market resulting in the destruction of numerous shops.
The fire, which started around 9pm on Tuesday night, engulfed the furniture section of the state capital’s largest market.
Director of Zamfara Fire Service, Abdullahi Dauran, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria in Gusau.
“We received a report of the fire outbreak and deployed our men to the scene,” he said.
"We were able to put the fire under control, but one person lost his life while trying to remove his properties from his shop.
"We are investigating to ascertain the cause of the incident and to determine the actual extent of damage,’’ Dauran added.
