Super Eagles star striker, Victor Osimhen has vowed to help the country win the 2023 AFCON trophy.

According to him, he's ready to give his all.

Osimhen has been one of the standout performers in the tournament and on Saturday helped the Eagles reach the quarter-finals.

His unrelenting pressing saw him outmuscle a Cameroonian defender before setting up Ademola Lookman for the opener even though the reigning African Player of the Year has only scored one goal in this year’s AFCON which was against Equatorial Guinea.

He has now opened up on his desire to win the tournament with the current squad.

“I want to win something with this great squad,” he said on Osasu Obayiuwana’s X handle.

“I want to give Nigeria something that they will remember. I’m giving everything to come home with the [AFCON] trophy.”

Osimhen also said the team is not yet playing at their peak.

“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win,” Osimhen told reporters.

“For me, we are more like a family than just players. So for me, it is important to have this mentality of winning.

“I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going.”

The Super Eagles will take on the Palancas Negras of Angola in a quarter-final fixture on Friday.
