A statement issued on Thursday and made available by the spokesperson of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation took place on Wednesday.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has reported that its operatives from the Anti-kidnapping Unit and the Rubochi Division successfully rescued 14 kidnapped victims.

A statement issued on Thursday and made available by the spokesperson of the Command, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation took place on Wednesday.

She said the successful operation followed the ongoing fight against kidnapping in the nation’s capital city.

According to her, the combined team, which acted on credible intelligence, stormed a kidnappers’ den located at Ukya village in Nasarawa State, bordering FCT, on Wednesday.

She said on sighting the security operatives, the kidnappers opened fire on the police officers, resulting in a gun duel.

The Police Public Relations Officer said the operatives neutralized one of the kidnappers, noting that the rest of the assailants fled to a nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds.

“The hostages who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their loved ones.

“The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, wishes to reiterate his commitment to rid the FCT of criminality in all its manifestations and maintenance of peace for all and sundry,”
the statement added.
