Ibadan Explosion: Senator Kalu Calls For Thorough Investigation

While expressing sadness over the incident which happened on Tuesday, due to illegal mining activities, he insisted that a full-scale investigation into the sad event would forestall further occurrence.

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has urged authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the tragic explosion that resulted in the loss of numerous lives in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Kalu who represents Abia North Senatorial District at the National Assembly, in a statement, on Thursday, condemned the explosion, noting that such a tragedy would have been averted if caution was taken by those responsible.

While expressing sadness over the incident which happened on Tuesday, due to illegal mining activities, he insisted that a full-scale investigation into the sad event would forestall further occurrence.

He said, “I received with shock the news of the explosion in Ibadan on Tuesday.

“It is depressing considering the lives that were lost and injured victims.

“Government must bring to book the perpetrators of the ugly incident in order to prevent future occurrences.

“My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the departed souls.

“I also wish the hospitalized victims quick recovery”.


He prayed for the repose of the departed souls while wishing hospitalised victims quick recovery.

The former Governor, who is also Ashipa Seriki Mayegun of Ibadan land, urged the government of Oyo State to work with appropriate authorities at the federal level to bring succour to the victims of the tragic incident.
