Oshodi remanded Mbaka in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Center, pending the determination of his bail application and commencement of trial.

A man identified as Onyeka Mbaka has been remanded by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for the alleged defilement of a 15-year-old girl.

Oshodi remanded Mbaka in Kirikiri Maximum Correctional Center, pending the determination of his bail application and commencement of trial.

He subsequently adjourned the case until March 22 for trial.

The defendant, whose residential address was not given, was arraigned by the Lagos State Government for defilement.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

Following his not guilty plea, the state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo, prayed the court to remand the defendant accordingly.

Okeowo had told the court that the prosecution intends to call three witnesses to prove the charge against the defendant.

She said that the defendant committed the offence sometime in March 2023 at No. 16, Moshalasi Street, in the Ilasa area of Lagos.

According to her, the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
