The election of Francis Nwifuru as the Governor of Ebonyi State has been affirmed by the Supreme Court.
The apex court described the appeal filed by Chukwuma Odii of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as lacking merit.
The judgement was read by Justice Tijani Abubakar on Friday.
Last November, the Court of Appeal in Lagos affirmed the election of Francis Nwifuru of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected governor of the state in the last governorship election.
The election was held on March 18, 2023.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had announced Nwifuru as the winner of the election.
According to INEC, Nwifuru received a total of 199,131 votes while Ifeanyi Odii of the PDP got 80,191 votes to come second.
The three-member panel of the Appeal Court presided over by Justice Jummai Sankey, had dismissed the appeal filed by Odii.
The Appeal Court upheld the verdict of the tribunal.
The PDP candidate subsequently approached the apex court to seek redress.
