The Guinness World Records recognised Failatu’s attempt to break the record for the longest cooking marathon when she fought to unseat Irish chef Alan Fisher, who had overthrown Nigerian chef Hilda Baci in November 2023.

The Nation reported that after cooking for 119 hours and 57 minutes, Fisher smashed Baci’s previous record by more than 24 hours, and his status as the world record holder was officially validated on November 7, 2023.

At the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, Failatu began her cookathon journey on 1st January, 2024 and cooked for 227 hours.

It was learnt that Abdul-Razak cooked a wide variety of dishes during the cooking session.

Supporters at the location celebrated the accomplishment as the stopwatch reached the 227th hour on Wednesday.

GWR reacted to the lengthy session on its X (formerly Twitter) account, saying: “We look forward to reviewing her evidence!”
