Bokkos town, the administrative center of Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State, has regained normalcy following the arson incident that resulted in the destruction of the residence and administrative office of the District Head, Michal Monday Adanchi.

The traditional ruler’s house and his office were set ablaze on Friday by protesting women expressing discontent over the arrest of some community members who were allegedly involved in recent killings in the area.

The protesters accused the traditional ruler of being a sellout and aligning with the herders.

Sources from Bokkos told Daily Trust on Saturday that normal activities had resumed, adding that the General Officer Commanding three Division of Nigerian Army, Major General Abdulssalami Abubakar, had visited the area to assess the level of the Friday’s incident and sympathize with the traditional ruler.

The sources said during the visit, the army general called on the people of the area to remain calm and go about their normal activities.

Daily Trust reports that following the Christmas Eve attacks on some villages of Bokkos and Barikin Ladi, where more than 100 persons were killed, there have been subsequent reports of Isolated killings in some communities, a development that is causing tension between herders and farming communities.
