Also, the Chairman of Barkin Ladi local government area, Danjuma Dakil, said that the death toll from the attacks in the area had risen to 30, from 17 as earlier reported.
Nigerian social media users on X (formerly Twitter) criticized Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for participating in a residence gathering hosted by President Bola Tinubu, despite the recent terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of more than 150 people in his state over the weekend.
SaharaReporters earlier reported how the Chairman of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Monday Kassa said that the death toll from the multiple attacks on communities in the local government area had risen to 125.
Also, the Chairman of Barkin Ladi local government area, Danjuma Dakil, said that the death toll from the attacks in the area had risen to 30, from 17 as earlier reported.
Kassa who confirmed the latest death toll update on the phone with newsmen said “up to this moment, our people are still in the bush searching for missing ones. Today we have recovered more than 20 bodies from the bushes and the search is not over yet”.
“The situation on the ground now is not yet Uhuru. We are working tirelessly. Now as we are talking, the leadership of the Fulani are saying that they are going to talk to their people and so we want to take them by their words, we don’t have problems.”
However, amid these developments, the state governor decided to join his colleagues to visit President Bola Tinubu in Lagos State.
This action of the governor has therefore generated a lot of negative reactions from Nigerians who thought the governor’s visit was not timeous.
“#PlateauMassacre The governors did not find it fit or right to visit Bokkos in Plateau state where over 120 people were killed and families thrown into grieving but found it good to converge in Lagos and visit Bola Tinubu who mean no well for Nigerians,” an X user, DEC wrote.
Another user, P.Kay also said: “This guy just lost over 100 people massacred in his state and left all that to do oga sir to tinubu.#PlateauMassacre #shameontinubu.”
Ayemojubar, on his side, blamed President Tinubu and his Vice for allowing Governor Mutfwang to be in their midst while the people of his state are mourning.
He said, “As the victims were mass-buried in Plateau, Muftwang was busy singing "on your mandate we shall stand" at Bourdillon & planning Wyclef's concert. Despite Tinubu & Shettima being aware of the attack, they permitted the negligent Governor to spend time in Lagos.
#PlateauMassacre.”
“So Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang is yet to embark on immediate condolence visit to the troubled communities but instead he was in Lagos today with other governors. Setting priority right isn’t a rocket science. #PlateauMassacre,” another user, Deji Adesogan added.
