Shatta Wale Condemns Colleagues Calling For Reduction Of Nigerian Music On Ghana’s Airwaves

In a series of X posts, he expressed his belief that even if Ghanaian media implemented the local content policy, Nigerian music would still overshadow them.

Famous Ghanaian musician, Shatta Wale has slammed his fellow Ghanaian musicians who are advocating for a reduction of Nigerian music on Ghana’s airwaves.

In a series of X posts, he expressed his belief that even if Ghanaian media implemented the local content policy, Nigerian music would still overshadow them.

He said the policy won’t have much effect in the streaming era as the government can’t force Ghanaians to stream Ghanaian music even if the the local content policy is implemented for airplay.

The singer claimed it will take Ghana “roughly the year 5050” to catch up with Nigeria in terms of music.

Shatta Wale wrote in Ghanaian Pidgin, “The way Wizkid and Davido and Burna Boy love Ghana nu, you ppl wan play dem a song 20%?

“No problem. One song from them go make your woman wet all nite. E go take you ppl roughly the year 5050 before you guys will get what Naija is getting.

“Your spirit of wanna be is very bad. Is it by force for Ghanaians to listen to your fav? They like Wizkid.

“Your artiste loose guard he no make money quick. Now he say play Ghana music. U weh dj’s play your song saaaa weh u no give dem shishi. Shame on you all. Your artiste no get shi shi.

“Artiste poor, fans poor!!! Music too no deh fly.”
