A Nigerian lecturer and sub-dean at Imo State University, Dr. Gloria Ernest-Samuel has taken to Facebook to express sadness after thieves broke into her home and carted away valuables.
The lecturer revealed that documents for her department's accreditation stored in her computer was also stolen by the thieves who invaded her house.
She took to Facebook and wrote:
"Since yesterday, l have been trying hard to hold my heart so l don't cry. My department is facing accreditation so l was assigned to travel to Ariaria, Aba to go and purchase books for our departmental library. I pleaded with my husband to join me since he is an erstwhile Aba breed and knows other places I can access books outside Ariaria. We left before 8am, and returned around 3pm, only to find our little house help downstairs in a state of shock. We live at the last floor of a two storey building. Thieves broke into our apartment in broad daylight and made away with four laptops belonging to me and my children, my husband's phone, gold wristwatch and valuables. I am trying to accept these losses quietly, my heart is broken.
While l was counting those as my only losses, this morning l realize that these heartless thieves also made away with my flash and hard drives, phone & laptop chargers, mouse, and power bank. If l can value these properties, please how do l value the cost of my latest novel- Eclipse of Life, which is at its 25th chapter, the longest l have ever written. A work that has taken me much more time than all my works put together due to the research l was conducting in the writing? How do l value the cost of the concluding part of Memoirs of the Prodigal - the concluding part of my epistolary trilogy?ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ How do l value in monetary terms, Lady Gee for Restoration, my drama on Nigerian contemporary politics?ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ How do l value all my daughter's artworks in her computer?
The accreditation team will arrive on Thursday, but all my undergraduate results are gone. How do l retrieve them. My husband is pleading that l should take it easy. How do l take these easy? I lost approximately 160 films especially, ten important films l require for a fellowship next year, some l paid through hell to access. How do l remain calm, bikonu?🙆🙆🙆
I found it difficult to pray this morning. I found it hard to sing praises to God. I am hurting badly. I cannot process and accept this loss. God, console me. This is too much for me ðŸ˜"
