Mother And Her Newborn Daughter Burnt To Death Shortly After Bandits Opened Fire On Vehicle Taking Them To Hospital In Sokoto

A resident of the community simply identified as Kabiru noted that other passengers who escaped with injuries rescued the other twin sister.

A woman identified as Sharifa Noma and one of her newborn twin daughters have been confirmed dead.

They were burnt to death shortly after she delivered her babies in Ruwa-Wuri, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

According to sources who spoke to Daily Trust, the woman gave birth at home around 2:30am on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

“After losing too much blood, her family decided to take her to the hospital for possible blood infusion,” the source said.

Their vehicle was said to have rammed into a road block erected by bandits along Ruwa wuri-Bugawa road.

The bandits opened fire on the vehicle and the driver lost control after which the vehicle hit a tree and burst into flames.

"The driver, the mother and one of the twin sisters were burnt to death,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Tangaza Local Government Council, Hon. Isah Salihu Bashir Kalangeni, APC chairman and others paid a condolence visit to the family of the victims on Wednesday.
