Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections has urged the people of Imo state to vote for his party in Saturday's governorship election in the state.

According to Obi, people of Imo State deserve better governance than what the current administration offers.

Obi stated this on Tuesday while addressing party supporters at the grand finale of Senator Athan Achonu’s governorship campaign at the Kanu Nwankwo Sports Complex in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The former governor of Anambra State urged Imo residents to shun sleep, defend their votes, and ensure they vote for Achonu, the party’s governorship candidate in the November 11 Imo governorship election.

The LP flagbearer also lamented the current hardship, inflation and insecurity in the state and the country, saying that the party can reposition the state for the better.

He said President Bola Tinubu’s administration had done very little to alleviate the sufferings of the Nigerian masses, urging the people of the state to show the APC administration the way out on Saturday by voting for the LP candidate and protecting their votes.

Also speaking, Achonu stated that, if elected governor, he would address insecurity, create jobs for the unemployed young people, and promote local government autonomy.
