The PDP in a statement released via its official account on the X platform congratulated Senator Yohana, adding that his victory is a confirmation of the people’s support for the party.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed its candidate, Senator Amos Yohanna, after the Appeal Court nullified the election of Sen Elisha Abbo, the lawmaker representing Adamawa North in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

The party in a statement on Tuesday said Yohanna won a well-deserved victory at the court.

Recalls the election of Senator Elisha Abbo was declared null and void by the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday. The court ruled in favour of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amos Yohanna.

At the court sitting on Monday, the three-member panel presided over by Justice C.E. Nwosu-Iheme, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue a Certificate of Return to Amos Yohanna as the duly elected lawmaker representing the area in the National Assembly.

The appellate vacated the tribunal judgment, which had earlier affirmed Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the senatorial election.

Reacting to the development, the PDP in a statement released via its official account on the X platform congratulated Senator Yohana, adding that his victory is a confirmation of the people’s support for the party.

“We congratulate Senator Amos Yohana, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District on his well-deserved victory at the Appeal Court Yesterday. This is a confirmation of the People’s will and support for our great party, the @OfficialPDPNig. Once again, congratulations to him, his constituents, the people of Adamawa state and the entire @OfficialPDPNig family nationwide. Congrats”
