Reps Adjourn Plenary Over Death Of Sokoto Lawmaker

Abdulkadir Danbuga, the late Sokoto lawmaker, was on Wednesday honored by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, by adjourning the House early.

The Deputy Speaker adjourned the House on Wednesday after a brief tribute in honour of the lawmaker.

It had earlier been reported the death of the 63-year-old lawmaker who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.

Ahmad Kalambina announced the death of Danbuga in a letter addressed to the House.

Speaking on the death of the lawmaker, the Deputy Speaker, Ben Kalu said Danbuga died despite the resources and effort spent on winning his election.

“Look at his toil to win the election. His toil to represent his people. All that money, all the effort, all that energy going down the grave today. It is sad. It is sad for the family, it is sad for the nation,” he said.

The National Assembly has a customary practice of adjourning plenary whenever a member dies.
