The suspects, Ogunsola Oluwatomisin and Odusina Olukunle, were said to have been hired by one Jonah James, who had claimed to have given a vehicle to Monday for commercial purposes.
For allegedly beating a commercial driver, Igwe Monday, to death in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, two men have landed in police net.
The suspects, Ogunsola Oluwatomisin and Odusina Olukunle, were said to have been hired by one Jonah James, who had claimed to have given a vehicle to Monday for commercial purposes.
James, while suspecting that Monday had absconded with his vehicle, engaged the suspects to locate and arrest him.
In a statement by the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, the suspects had confessed that they intercepted the deceased and beat him to death, confirming that “his corpse was dumped at a bush near Faari Motorpark Ilese-Ijebu.”
According to Alamutu, an informant had, on September 23, discovered Monday’s corpse where it was dumped and informed the Anti-kidnapping unit of the Police at a pin-down point.
He explained that the police investigation led to the arrest of Ogunsola and Odusina.
The CP added that the principal suspect, James, is on the run, and an “intensive hunt to apprehend him and other fleeing suspects have been launched”, even as the investigation continues.
