A witness said the accident happened around 2am on Tuesday when an unmarked J5 bus fully loaded with tomatoes from the Gwagwalada axis rammed into the trailer.
In what will come across as a really tragic development, as many as three persons that comprised a driver, conductor and passenger have been killed in an accident.
They were killed after a bus crashed into a trailer near Asio Filling Station in Abaji, along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway.
A witness said the accident happened around 2am on Tuesday when an unmarked J5 bus fully loaded with tomatoes from the Gwagwalada axis rammed into the trailer.
He said the Daf trailer driver parked near the filling station to rest when the bus driver lost control and hit the trailer from behind.
He said two persons that were trapped died instantly, while the driver later gave up at the Abaji General Hospital after he was rescued by the officials of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the area.
Our reporter, who visited the scene around 8 am yesterday, saw one of the corpses still trapped inside the bus and FRSC officials were trying to use an extricating machine to remove it.
An official of the FRSC, who preferred anonymity, attributed the accident to over-speeding by the bus driver.
It was also gathered that the remains of the deceased persons have been taken by their relatives and buried according to Islamic rites after funeral prayers at the JIBWIS central mosque in the area.
