Hon Evelyn Anite

Prominent Ugandan female politician, Hon Evelyn Anite, has opened up on why she took back an ambulance donated to her district after losing the polls in 2021.

During election campaigns, politicians give out both cash and material gifts in anticipation of massive votes during the election, and this was not different for Evelyn.

On October 3, 2023, the African Facts Zone, in a post via X, recalls how Honourable Anite took back the ambulance she donated to her district after she lost an election.

The post read, “Ugandan Politician Evelyn Anite took back an ambulance she donated to her district after losing an election in 2021.”

Responding to the post, Anite, now the Ugandan State Minister of Finance for Investment and Privatization, confirmed she retrieved the ambulance and is unapologetic.

The minister said she refused to walk away empty-handed after the same people she donated the ambulance to didn’t vote for her.

She further quoted the scripture to justify her action, adding there was nothing to be ashamed of because she had sold the ambulance.

She wrote, “First, it’s true I took back my ambulance & I have no apologies. Why did I do it? It’s because they didn’t vote for me. So, did you expect me to walk away with nothing? Galatians 6:7: A man reaps what he sows. I’m so shameless to the extent that I have sold it.”
