The tribunal noted that the margin with which Ovey led, standing at 1004 votes, fell below the total number of voters who were accredited in the four (4) polling units where elections were annulled by the INEC.

The National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia has sacked Ovey John, the Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker representing Keffi East Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA).

Delivering judgement on Sunday, October 1, a three-member panel headed by Justice Francisca Isong Nnang held that INEC erred in declaring the PDP candidate as the winner, overlooking Isah Adamu from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The tribunal noted that the margin with which Ovey led, standing at 1004 votes, fell below the total number of voters who were accredited in the four (4) polling units where elections were annulled by the INEC.

Justice Francisca Isong Nnang-led tribunal also ordered a re-run at the four affected polling units, namely: Yarkade Primary School 003, Angwan Maiganga 014, Police Station 2 and Angwan Nepa within the constituency.
