Oluwatoyin Madein, the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), has debunked allegations of falsifying her age prior to her appointment.

Madein also refuted the claims that she received cash inducement in posting accountants to various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Naija News reported that some aggrieved directors in the Office of the AGF, in a petition to the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Wale Edun, accused Madein of falsifying her age.

Also, the aggrieved directors petitioned the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi; the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan; and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

The directors also accused the AGF of bribing her way to become the head of the Treasury House despite not passing the special professional examination conducted for shortlisted directors.

They alleged that Madein didn’t qualify as the best candidate for the office, having emerged second behind one Olakunle Oladipupo, now posted as Director of Finance in the Ministry of Works.

The petitioners further alleged that the AGF was born on March 7, 1963, stating that prior to her appointment as AGF, she illegally adjusted her age to March 7, 1965, in order to elongate her service year.

Also, the directors accused the AGF of receiving cash inducement in posting accountants to various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Reacting in a chat with Daily Trust on Tuesday, Madein, through the Director of Press at the Office of the AGF, Bawa Mokwa, denied the allegations of age falsification and corruption.

The AGF stated that her records could be verified from the documents she already submitted to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Madein also said she was not surprised at the allegations made by the directors because the office being a competitive and coveted seat, is often susceptible to unwarranted attacks.
