Nigerian singer and activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has alleged that the Nigerian court has been compromised.
He stated that the judgement of the Supreme Court would not be different from that of the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribuna (PEPT), which affirmed the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election.
Recall that following the PEPT verdict, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the February 25 election, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) approached the apex court and vowed to exhaust all the legal processes.
Speaking with Naija News in an interview, Charly Boy, a staunch supporter of LP, when questioned on his expectation about the Supreme Court judgement, said the court and judges are compromised.
He stressed that Nigerians have been weakened by ignorance, tribal sentiments and religiosity, adding the common man can no longer find justice.
He said, “Not exactly expecting anything different from PEPT judgement, we can see that the court and judges are compromised, we are living in a very strange time, the country is deserving of the kind of leadership it gets.
“Maybe we deserve the punishment we are getting, ignorance, tribal sentiments, and religiosity have weakened us. During my father’s time, the common man could look up to the court for justice, but we can no longer find justice, and it is left for the common man to say enough is enough.”
