A doctor at the hospital disclosed that his examination of the victim’s wound showed that the robbers had intended to kill her.
A 49-year-old pharmacist was macheted by armed robbers and dispossessed of her belongings at Adisa Bridge on the Ibadan/Oyo New Expressway, Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Mrs Ajayi was returning from the market on Monday, Sept. 18, when she was attacked.
Speaking from her hospital bed at Wabilahi Taofeek Maternity Clinic, Isale Awero, Moniya, she told Punch that she was attacked at about 6:30 p.m. by two young men on a motorcycle after she disembarked from a commercial vehicle that had developed a fault.
She said, “One was on the bike, while the second was very close to me, asking me to bring all the money with me. I didn’t even know that they were robbers until he brought out cutlasses and inflicted machete cut injuries on me.
“I just went to the market to get some goods for my customers. They collected everything. The one on the motorcycle was telling him to kill me if I wasn’t ready to cooperate. Before I say anything, he brought out the cutlass and inflicted injuries on me.
“I am a pharmacist. All the medicines inside my bag and other valuables were forcefully taken away.”
