The family and coursemates of a 100-level Economics student of the Benue State University (BSU), Ahangba Ugaa Solomon, who died after he fell from a staircase in the lecture theatre are mourning his tragic demise.
The incident happened on Monday morning, September 18, 2023, in the Twin Lecture Theater ( TLT A) western wing of the university.
He was rushed to the school clinic and later transferred to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital where he passed away.
The President of the National Economics Students Association (NESA) Benue State University Chapter, Comr. Austine Austine, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday night.
The statement signed by NESA General Secretary, Comr. Agwaza Gabriel Kundushima, condoled with the family of the deceased and the university community.
"The president, Excos and the entire Economics department of the Benue State University with heavy hearts but total submission to the will of God announced the sudden death of her member Master UGAA SOLOMON who until his sudden demise was a 100L Student of the department,” the statement read.
"Statement issued by his course mates and other eyewitnesses indicate that the deceased fell from stairs of Twin Lecture Theater (TLT A) Western wing of the University around 9am
"The deceased was rushed to the university clinic where they transferred him to Benue state University Teaching Hospital where he finally kicked the bucket
"The president, Comr Austine Austine, expressed shock over the ugly incident nevertheless, condoled the immediate family and the entire NESA family. He prayed to almighty to console the family, NESA for the great lost and Benue state University community as a whole.”
Meanwhile, the National Union of Benue State Students under the leadership of Comrade Igba Seth Andrew, also sympathized with the Economic Department over the untimely death of the student.
“The premature death of one Mr. Ugaa Solomon, a hundred level student is a huge loss not only to his immediate department nor his family but to the entire Benue State University," Andrew said in a condolence message on Monday.
