Ibrahim Umar, a 40-year-old man, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command.
He was arrested in connection with the alleged abduction, killing and burial of two casual workers in a shallow grave in Taranka village, Gamawa Local Government Area.

According to the statement, “on 10/09/2023 at about 0958hrs, one Adamu Mohammed, aged 57, of Taranka village, Gamawa LGA, Bauchi State, reported at the Gamawa Divisional Police Headquarters that a 36-year-old man, Kabiru Idi, and an 18-year-old young man, Bato Ali, were missing for over a month.”
According to the statement, one Ibrahim Umar, of Dankunkuru village, Ungogo LGA, Kano State, who came to the village, Taranka, to buy charcoal was suspected to have perfected the abduction of the two victims.
He added that on receipt of the report, a team of detectives were quickly drafted to the scene and eventually arrested the suspect.
He said during interrogation, the suspect confessed to the killing and burial of the two casual workers in a shallow grave on the outskirts of the town.
He said the requisite coroner’s form was filled and the bodies were exhumed for discreet investigation and the bodies were discovered to be those of the missing persons.
He added that the command had handed over the corpses to the relatives for burial, adding that further investigation revealed that the accused killed the victims for ritual purposes
“During a search at the suspect’s residence, one rubber gallon containing liquid substances suspected to be human blood was recovered. Investigation is still in progress to uncover the mystery behind the incident,’’ the statement added.
