Nigerian singer/activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has reacted to reports of the multi-million naira LX 600 SUV allegedly purchased by Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, after he resumed office.
Wike’s choice of automobile with the plate number ‘FCT – 01’ for his first day at work on Tuesday got many talking.
A search on the official Lexus website puts the price of this SUV starting from $100,115.
Reacting to this, Charly Boy, via his Twitter page, questioned the rationale behind such an acquisition when the country has over 20 million out-of-school children and N30k as minimum wage.
He tweeted: “A minister is driving a 300 million naira vehicle in a country with over 20 million out of school children, a minister is driving a 300 million naira vehicle in a country where the minimum wage is 30,000 naira. Please folks stop engaging the defenders of this crime against humanity. We shall and must RECOVER the Stolen Mandate to change the NARRATIVE.”
