Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu has reacted to the viral video of Senate president, Godswill Akpabio where he mistakenly revealed that tokens have been sent to his colleagues to ‘enjoy’ their recess.
This happened while Akpabio was addressing his colleagues before an adjournment motion was moved at the end of the Senate’s screening of President Bola Tinubu’s ministerial nominees.
The clip which surfaced on Wednesday was greeted with various backlash from Nigerians.
Weighing in on the development, Yesufu stated that the Senate knows that religion is a tool that is highly effective in Nigeria, hence the reason for changing his words to prayers.
She berated the lawmakers for their lack of empathy towards the Nigerian people.
Yesufu wondered how the government could be comfortable in sharing tokens while the Nigerian people are suffering.
Speaking via a video on Twitter, Yesufu wrote, “Are you enjoying while they are enjoying? The people elected into office are there to serve you not the other way round.
“Akpabio changed it to prayers have been sent because they know religion is our mumu button.”
