In 2020, Bolanle Aseyan, a medical doctor and former lover of Olufunmilayo, accused him of s3xual harassment and physical violence.
Dr. Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya has finally broken his silence three years after he was falsely accused of r3pe.
The popular doctor based in the United Kingdom spoke after he was exonerated by UK’s Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service from r3pe allegations levelled against him by Dr Bolanle Aseyan.
Human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, who is also Olufunmilayo’s lawyer in Nigeria informed Olufunmilayo got cleared of r3pe allegations.
He added that Ms Aseyan is facing both civil and criminal lawsuits in Nigeria for her actions.
“No one should have to go through what Funmi has ensured these past years. False r3pe allegations should never be trivialised. It is evil and despicable,” Effiong tweeted.
The case, which was heard and decided by the Medical Practitioner Tribunal Service (MPTS) noted that all allegations against Olufunmilayo were unproven.
In 2020, Bolanle Aseyan, a medical doctor and former lover of Olufunmilayo, accused him of s3xual harassment and physical violence.
The tribunal reviewed all allegations against him and found that they were “determined and found but not proved”.
One of the allegations also sought to prove that he was not fit to practise as a doctor but the tribunal struck it out saying “as the facts have not been found proved it therefore follows that Dr Ogunsanya’s fitness to practise is not impaired.”
The social media influencer who had taken a temporary break from Twitter expressed joy over getting free from the allegations.
Breaking his silence, he wrote: First time waking up free. First time waking up happy. First time after 3years of horror. Truly free. Truly happy. After three years of daily hell. But as the Good Book said: “When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.” It all still feels like a dream.
“If you have people and/or events that bring you true happiness in this life, pls truly value them and kindly appreciate them while you can. Because you will never know what true happiness and freedom is – until it is snatched away from you and you had no hope at all of it ever coming back.
“Good morning. And yes, happy new year. Because the year actually just started.”
