The House Speaker, Abbas Tajudeen declared the formation of the Ad-hoc Committee, stating that it would consist of the eight principal officers of the House from both the majority and minority parties.
The Service Chiefs appointed by President Bola Tinubu will be screened by an Ad-hoc Committee set up by the House of Representatives on Monday.
The Committee is headed by Hon. Babajimi Benson (APC- Lagos), the chairman of the Committee on Defence in the 9th House.
The nominated Service Chiefs are Major General C.G Musa as Chief of Defence Staff; Major General T. A. Lagbaja as Chief of Army Staff; Rear Admiral E. A. Ogalla as Chief of Naval Staff; and Air Vice Marshal H.B. Abubakar as Chief of Air Staff.

The Majority Caucus includes Hon. Julius Ihonvbere as Majority Leader and Hon. Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga as Deputy Chief Whip. The Minority Caucus features Hon. Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader and Hon. George Ozodinobi as Deputy Minority Whip.
The Ad-hoc Committee has arranged for the screening of the newly appointed Service Chiefs on Monday, July 17, 2023.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on June 19, ordered the immediate retirement of the former Service Chiefs and other top security officials, subsequently appointing their successors.
The President then transmitted the nominations and a request for confirmation to the National Assembly via a letter addressed to Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the Speaker.
