The octogenarian, alongside Anjorin Lisa Akingboye, Okoriseh Monday, Fadayomi Omosuyi, and Obayelu Oladapo were charged with conspiracy and murder.
An 83-year-old man, Chief Pius Akinyele Omokunga, alongside four other suspects has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate’s Court, over the death of one Segun Anthony Olibamoyo in Ondo State.
The octogenarian, alongside Anjorin Lisa Akingboye, 62, Okoriseh Monday, 41; Fadayomi Omosuyi, 50, and Obayelu Oladapo, 45, were charged with conspiracy and murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Folasade Adeyemi, told the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences on June 21, 2023, at Oko-Igbo farm Ayeka via Okitipupa, in the Ondo State Magisterial District.
Adeyemi alleged that the defendants killed Olibamoyo, 45, with a machete.
The offence, he said, contravened Sections 319 (1), 316 (1) 342, the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of the Ondo State Nigeria 2006.
However, the pleas of the defendants were not taken.
She, therefore, urged the court to remand them in Olokuta Correctional Centre, so as to forward their case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for advice.
Their counsel, Ilemobayo Akinbote, prayed the court to adjourn the case to enable him reply the application.
He pointed out that his clients were served the remand application the previous day, hence asked for date to reply the application.
In her ruling, Magistrate A.O. Mayowa-Idowu, granted the request of the defendants’ counsel.
She adjourned the case till Wednesday, July 19, for ruling on the remand application.
