A former Nigerian lawmaker, Shehu Sani has broken his silence following the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
In a Twitter post, Sani made his view about Tinubu's emergence public.
Recall that President Tinubu on Sunday emerged as the new ECOWAS Chairman.
Tinubu was elected at the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), held in Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
The Nigerian leader took over from President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau.
Reacting, Sani said he is waiting to see what President Tinubu will do with Nigeria’s closed land borders in the coming days.
He wrote: “Nigeria’s President is ECOWAS Chairman and ECOWAS Protocol demands that we should open our borders for free movement of people and goods.
We shall see what the Chairman will do with Nigeria’s closed land borders.”
