An attempt by pipeline vandals to scoop crude oil at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation pipeline at Idimu in the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos state has been foiled by the Lagos State Police Command on Saturday.

The spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement, said the incident happened around 2 am on Saturday when the hoodlums accessed the site to siphon the PMS into their tanker.

He added that the suspects took to their heels and abandoned their vehicle and equipment after sighting the men from the command.

He said, “The CP, Idowu Owohunwa, at a site in Idimu where oil thieves at about 2 am today gained access to an NNPC pipe, filling their tanker with PMS.

"The oil thieves absconded, abandoning their truck and tools upon sighting police officers who responded swiftly upon being notified.”
