Many Insurgents Killed As NAF Airstrike Hits ISWAP Convoy In Borno

Sources in the military told Zagazola Makama that all the passengers in gun trucks were killed in the intelligence-led airstrikes.

 

According to a report by TheCable, many fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been killed,

They were reported killed after military airstrikes hit their convoy in Borno. 

According to Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the ISWAP fighters were killed on Thursday, following a locked target by the Nigerian air task force fighter jet on their convoy.

During the operation, the publication said, two Hilux trucks conveying the “unconfirmed numbers” of the ISWAP fighters between  Aulam and Kafa general area of the state, were bombed.

Sources in the military told Zagazola Makama that all the passengers in gun trucks were killed in the intelligence-led airstrikes.

“The jets fired four bombs which hit the two vehicles while other fighters on motorcycles scampered in a different direction,” the sources were quoted as saying by the publication.

TheCable had reported how troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with civilian joint task force (CJTF), killed eleven ISWAP fighters in Borno.

Zagazola Makama reported that between May 31 and June 4, 2023, troops launched an intelligence-led offensive into the terrorists’ hideouts within the Damboa and Chibok LGAs of the state.

Sources in the military told the publication that during the 5-day operation, troops cleared some of ISWAP’s hideouts in Bale, Tirke, Mandari, Molgoi, Bego, Yarwa, Ngurna communities of the state.
