Nigerian lawyer and activist, Inibehe Effiong has reacted to plans by Lagos State Assembly lawmakers to pass a law favouring indigenes of the state.
Reacting on his Twitter page, he wrote:
"It is easier said than done, talk is cheap. They should go ahead and pass the law first and let us see how it will survive the constitutional test.
Section 42 of the 1999 Constitution guarantees every citizen freedom from discrimination based on ethnic or religious identity."
Recall that Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Obasa had assured members of the assembly that lawmakers will pass new property, business ownership laws favouring only indigenes.
