He was sworn in as the Governor of Enugu State at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu at about 11:50 am on Monday.

The immediate past Governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was at the event, alongside his Deputy, Barr Cecelia Ezeilo.
Some of the dignitaries at the event included former governor of old Anambra State, Senator Jim Nwobodo, former governor, Barr Sullivan Chime, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, among others.
